GE in Schenectady, NY

This week I’m in Schenectady, NY. Did you know that General Electric (GE) was “born” in Schenectady? The Edison Machine company moved to Schenectady in 1886. Edison later merged its various companies into Edison General Electric. Edison then merged with the Thomson-Houston Electric Company in 1892, becoming General Electric. Today the campus is still very active, and is home to GE Power. At various points GE was the largest company in the world. The plant is famous for its development and production of giant turbines and generators that are still in use in power plants all over the globe. #generalelectric #schenectady #happyupstate #upstateindustrialhistory#capitaldistrictny #capitalsistrict #albanyny#albany#ilovenewyork #upstateny #upstatenewyork
